A temporary apartment near Tesla Grünheide: furnished in Erkner until you find your own place

If you're starting a job at Tesla in Grünheide or at one of the companies around it, you have two big projects in your first weeks: the new job and the search for somewhere to live. You rarely find your own flat in the Berlin commuter belt overnight. For the time in between, you need somewhere you can move into with a suitcase that doesn't feel like a hotel.

An apartment instead of a hotel room

At Neu Zittauer Straße 60 in Erkner I rent out three furnished apartments. Each has its own kitchen and its own bathroom; nothing is shared. Bed linen, towels and Wi-Fi are provided – you only bring your own things. You can book from one night, just as well for several weeks or months, with no deposit.

• Kiefer: one room with two single beds and a kitchenette – for one person or two
• Birke: two rooms with four single beds between them
• Eiche: 40 m², two separate bedrooms, four single beds and a proper kitchen

If you come alone, Eiche gives you two rooms to yourself – one for sleeping, one for working or settling in. That's why many people travelling on their own ask for it specifically.

To the plant and to Berlin

The Gigafactory is around twelve kilometres away, about twelve minutes by car. There are four parking spaces in front of the house. Without a car, the bus that stops opposite the driveway helps: four lines run from there to Erkner S-Bahn station. The S3 runs from Erkner right across Berlin without changing – handy for the weekend or for flat viewings in the city.

While you look for a flat

Looking for your own flat takes time and appointments. From Erkner you're quickly in Grünheide, Rüdersdorf or Schöneiche, and with the S3 in Friedrichshagen and Köpenick. If you're only just getting to know the area, after a few weeks you'll know where you want to live. Shopping is no detour: the Lidl is around 100 metres from the house.

If your employer is paying

If your employer covers the accommodation, I'll make the invoice out to the company. For longer stays I invoice monthly – each month gets its own invoice.
